Draft: the details in [SQUARE BRACKETS] still need your real business information before you rely on this document. It is a starting point to take to your own adviser, not legal advice.

These terms explain how money works when an event is booked and paid for through EventLink: what is held, when it is released, what happens if something goes wrong, and how vendors get paid. They form part of our Terms of Service.
Payments on EventLink are made to EventLink ([FULL LEGAL NAME OF YOUR BUSINESS], [REGISTERED BUSINESS ADDRESS]). We take the payment on the vendor's behalf, hold it, and pay it on to the vendor once the job is settled.
Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Clients pay nothing to post an event or to receive applications. Vendors pay nothing to browse, apply for or claim jobs. The only charges are our platform fee, taken from the vendor's payout when funds are released, and the cancellation fee described in section 6.
The budget a client posts is a guide, not a price. Before anything can be paid, the client and the chosen vendor both have to accept the final amount in the app. Only then does the payment option appear. The amount that is held is the amount you both agreed.
When the client pays, the agreed amount is held safely by EventLink. The vendor is not paid at that point. The money stays held until the job is settled under section 5 or a case is decided under section 7.
A job that has been paid for can no longer be deleted by the client. It can only be cancelled under section 6, or settled once the work is done.
After the event, the client confirms in the app that they are happy, and the funds are released to the vendor. The vendor receives the agreed amount less our platform fee of 10%, which is what EventLink charges for running, securing and settling the booking.
If the client does not respond, the money is released to the vendor automatically 24 hours after the event starts, unless a case has been raised. Money on a job with an open case stays frozen until EventLink has decided it, and while a case is open neither side can cancel the job.
If the client cancels after paying but before the funds are released, the vendor keeps 15% of the agreed amount as a cancellation fee and the client is refunded the rest. This covers the vendor's time and the slot they had set aside.
Cancelling closes 24 hours before the event starts. While the event is less than 24 hours away the booking is closed: it can no longer be cancelled or taken down by either side, and the money stays held until the job is settled or a case is decided.
Once the funds have been released, the job is complete and cannot be cancelled.
If the vendor cannot go ahead, they should say so in the job chat straight away. If a vendor cancels, does not turn up, or the work is not as agreed, the client can raise a case (section 7) and EventLink can refund the client in full. Repeated no-shows or cancellations by a vendor may lead to the account being suspended.
If something is not as agreed, the client and vendor should first talk it through in the job chat, where the whole conversation is on record.
Either side can ask EventLink to look at the job. While a case is open, the money stays held and frozen, and neither side can cancel.
We review the job details, the chat messages, the photos and anything else either side sends us, and then decide whether the client is refunded in full (in which case the vendor receives nothing) or the funds are released to the vendor less our platform fee. The decision and the reason for it are recorded on the job, and both sides can see the outcome.
Raise a case while the money is still held, which in most cases means within 24 hours after the event starts of the event. Once funds have been released we cannot reverse the payment through the app, so if something goes wrong later, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL FOR LEGAL AND PRIVACY MATTERS] and we will do what we can.
Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with, normally within 5 to 10 working days depending on your bank. Card and bank processing times are outside our control.
We cannot refund money that was paid outside EventLink.
Released funds become vendor earnings, less the 10% platform fee. Earnings can be withdrawn from the vendor dashboard by requesting a payout and entering your own bank details: account name, sort code and account number. Please check them carefully, because we pay to the details you give us.
We aim to process payout requests within 5 working days. We may hold a payout while we check something, for example an open case or a verification question, and we will tell you if we do.
You are responsible for your own tax on your earnings. EventLink does not withhold tax and is not your employer, your agent or your partner.
If a payment is reversed or reported to us as unauthorised, we may suspend the account while we look into it, and recover the amount from any future earnings.
Trying to pay or be paid outside EventLink, or trying to avoid our fee, breaks the Terms of Service and can lead to the account being closed.
Contact [CONTACT EMAIL FOR LEGAL AND PRIVACY MATTERS] with the job title and the event date, or use Support in the app, and we will look into it.
